Memories
While I was cleaning out my mother’s home and readying it for sale, I discovered a shoebox filled with photos, many of which I had never seen before. I came across this photo which I believe was taken in 1945. It shows my mother, father, and his sister. They were all so young! Now only my mother remains and will be eighty-seven on her next birthday. I thought it fitting that this memory from happier times, when their futures and the whole wide world lay before them, should be preserved. I placed it under a layer of mica and sandwiched it between two thin sheets of fine silver which I then cold connected with brass rivets. The pendant is suspended by a fine linked sterling chain. The memory lives on and is now held close to my heart.

Barbara, love your new blog! Memories is a special piece. I’ve had clients ask if you ever make lockets–Memories is so touching, something to think about.

Thanks Marsha, I’m enjoying doing the blog…although it does take a chunk of time away from my work. I think it’s a good discipline though and it forces me to think in terms of writing creatively. The memory pendant is special and I can do more of them if I ever get my scanner working again so I can reduce photo sizes. They would retail between $150 and $250 depending on size and how much silver goes into a piece. Yes, something to think about. Barbara _www.BarbaraBriggsDesigns.com
