Speaking of bugs…
I picked up this book at the Chicago Field Museum. I was attracted by the beautiful water-color illustrations of a variety of bugs that are native to Illinois. I think insects are fascinating creatures and as I reside in the country and am surrounded by forest, I have the opportunity to observe many different species. During summer months, I love to hear the sounds of cicadas and crickets as they contribute their songs to the music of the season! Shown next to the book is a brass stamped bee and fly and two of my polymer clay renditions of cicadas. Surely I will be inspired to make several jewelry pieces that feature a few of these creatures!
