At long last and after quite a few hours…

SeaDragonWristWrap_Variation_SeashellMy Sea Dragon wrist wrap Variation is finished and I LOVE it!  Initially inspired by the Sea Serpent in Contemporary Geometric Beadwork, the smooth Delica beads and patternwork used in this piece have created a visual texture of sorts, somewhat like faux lizard or snakeskin, which by the way, has become a popular high fashion staple of late! The rich shades of chocolate, praline, and mocha make me think of spiny urchins, seashells, and Lion fish!   I am definitely going to enjoy wearing this!  One might think that beaded wrapped bracelets are cumbersome to wear, but these are amazingly comfortable and lightweight!  I’m so in love with this winged wonder that I just might have to make a collar next!  I’m putting the finishing touches on the pattern for this piece, which will be included with the original Sea Dragon wrist wrap tutorial – eighteen pages of step-by-step instruction accompanied by color photos and graphs!  I’ll be spending this weekend weighing beads and assembling kits in Jungle Greens and Earth Tones.  Look for a sneak-peak of the pattern and kit in my next post.  Shipping will start on Monday.  Email me if you’d like to request a custom kit in your favorite colors!

  1. Barbara, This is simply beautiful! It outshines the version that Kate posted today. Definitely a should make an appearance in Volume II.
I only wish I was a seed beader so it could grace my arm in red / turquoise/ charcoal / silvers.
It will be a show stopper when it graces yours.

      • Sandi, thank you for the lovely compliment! I’m sure that this design and others I am working on will be featured in CGB Volume II. I wish you were a seed beader too…I’ve just finished the tutorial for the Sea Dragon and Variation and I’m putting kits together for both designs. I’ll be posting about them tomorrow and they’ll be in my Etsy shop.

  2. swoon it is beyond perfect. I totally love the finishing touch of the big end-‘tips’ – made by you I guess?

    • Thank you, Cath! Yes, the end tips were made by me to cover the ends of the memory wire. They are epoxy resin clay and made in tiny seashell molds that I make with 2-part molding compound. I include a mold in each Sea Dragon and Sead Dragon Variation kit. The pattern and kits are now in my Etsy shop and start shipping tomorrow!
