Look at these!

I’ve just ordered luscious iris blue vintage (circa 1890 – 1900) nail head beads from Just Let Me Bead. They are a petite 3mm in size with flat backs and domed heads that will be perfect for bead embroidery, which I haven’t done is some time. I’ve been so immersed in geometric beading that I’ve let bead embroidery fall by the wayside. But I’ll get back to it one of these days and when I do, these beauties will be waiting in my stash. Then again, they could be lovely embellishments for a geometric beaded cuff. As always…so many ideas and never enough time!

  1. Thanks for sharing. I always look forward to your posts.

  2. There is a LOT of room in architectural beadwork for these! Used in an MRAW band (as the “uprights”) they turn sideways, making a tactile row of curves. As embellishments on a Guide Round, they tend to meet at the edges- after I add them, I take another pass through just the nailheads, so that they form a ring.

I adore nailheads, especially vintage. I think I’ll get some too, thanks.

    • Kate, I’m eager to play with these and will try them on a guide row. I love the iris color, which will be a nice addition to the many blue shades of Delicas I have in my stash!
